Evidence-Based Approach
I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solutions Focused Therapy.
Through these modalities, one can process emotions tied to past experiences, detect unhelpful coping patterns, work to replace them, and define objectives and goals for the future.
Bolstered by over 20 years of holistic wellness training, I meet each client with a friendly perspective and keen perception. I’m listening for the source of internal conflict as it plays out in their daily experiences. This shows up as anxiety and depression. More specifically, worry, irritability, self-judgement, frustration with others, relationship conflicts, and intimacy issues.
Together, we better understand the source of long held beliefs about self, others and the world. Through the use of skills and modalities, we discuss methods to reframe thinking, create new opportunities for easier, less burdensome living, and build a life you are proud to live.
Somatic Therapy
“Somatic” comprises that which relates to the body. Somatic therapy reflects a holistic approach to healing in which our psychological distress can be experienced through modalities of physical awareness practice including forms of yoga and breath work. These therapies are distinct from the use of yoga as a means of exercise. Rather, they rely on a commitment to training with awareness and experiencing oneself with clarity and honesty.
My work with clients living with anxiety often includes the use of simple breathing practices to neutralize what is typically an uncomfortable experience dominated with spiraling thoughts. Together we focus on the physical experience of reliable and repetitive breath. With the somatic experience of breathing, one becomes more present, less distracted and more comfortable.
